Alexandra Park was a popular subject for postcards particularly in the early 1900s. It was Penarth's first public park, created between 1899 and 1902 from an open field overlooking Penarth seafront, and named after Alexandra the wife of King Edward VII, who had newly succeeded to the throne. The postcards have been divided into five sections covering the Park in general, the bandstand and shelter, the pond, the Beach Road Dingle at the north eastern boundary and "The Dingle" which forms the southern boundary. There is also a section which explores the documented history of the Park, and in addition there are two aerial photographs.
